The virtuoso pianist
The virtuoso pianist by Hanon is a very well-known and widely used collection of technical exercises for pianists.
Written by Charles-Louis Hanon, a French composer and music educator, the work consists of 60 progressive exercises aimed at improving finger dexterity, independence, and hand strength.
The exercises focus particularly on the agility of the weaker fingers and the balance between the hands, which is essential for expressive and precise piano playing.
The book is frequently recommended by piano teachers to strengthen technical fundamentals,
but it is also controversial due to its repetitive nature. Nevertheless, it remains a standard work in piano education, suitable for both beginners and advanced pianists alike.
To practice scales, we suggest to look into No. 39, which we've splitted into several pieces by key and parallel minor.
